Tips:


  1. Sun Exposure: The sun is direct and hot before the first set of switchbacks during the summer. Wear protective clothing that is light and airy. Protect your face and neck, too! Wear sunscreen.

  2. Hydration: If this is hike you're doing for the day, freeze your water a day before along with drinkable water on your way up. By the time you come down from the Second Lake, you'll have cold melted water to stay hydrated.

  3. Mosquitos: They are seriously on a hunt once you're in the wilderness area. Bring a repellant.

  4. Pain Medicine: Everyone will react differently to the ascending hike. I had a throbbing headache during the Cienega Mirth and two Advil really helped!
